Spell Guess cover art

Guess the hidden five-letter word in six tries. Green, yellow and gray clues follow every guess, and everyone gets the same word each UTC day.

How to play

  1. Type any five-letter English word and press Enter. A word that is not in the word list is refused and does not use one of your six guesses.
  2. Each letter of your guess is colored: green when it is in the word and in that exact place, yellow when it is in the word but somewhere else, and gray when it is not in the word.
  3. Repeated letters are colored one copy at a time. Exact matches are marked first; a yellow mark is given only while the word still has an unmatched copy of that letter, so a second copy beyond what the word holds turns gray.
  4. The on-screen keyboard keeps the best color found for each letter, so you can see which letters are still untested.
  5. Everyone gets the same word, which changes at midnight UTC. Your board is saved on this device: reloading brings back today’s guesses and result instead of a new try.
  6. After the daily word you can practice random words from the same list. Practice words never change your streak, win rate or guess distribution.

Controls

Touch or mouse

Keyboard
Type letters, Backspace deletes and Enter submits. Shortcuts with Ctrl, Alt or Command keep their usual meaning.

Score and progress

Solve the word in three guesses or fewer for three stars, in four for two stars and in five or six for one star. Your streak counts UTC days in a row with a solved daily word; a missed or unsolved day resets it. The result also shows your win rate and how many guesses your daily wins took. Copy result shares the date, your score and a grid of colored squares with no letters.

What the local challenge changes

A Local challenge locks one of three reviewed hint rules before the word starts, rotating by UTC day. AI briefings and recaps are being prepared and are not available yet. The daily word, the color clues and your stats still follow the local game rules, and your streak counts the same with or without a challenge.

Hard Mode
Every revealed hint must be used: a green letter must stay in its place and every yellow letter must appear in each later guess.
First Letter
The first letter of the word is shown before your first guess.
Vowel Count
You are told how many of the five letters are vowels (A, E, I, O or U) before your first guess.

The displayed local rule locks when you start. Local challenges and Classic need no AI response, and your skill decides the result.

At the end, the result shows the word, your stars, the number of guesses, your streak and your daily guess distribution. A labeled Local reflection uses only those counts.

Questions before you play

What do Local challenges change in Spell Guess?

AI briefings and recaps are being prepared and are not available yet. Local challenges and Classic are free to play. A Local challenge locks one of three reviewed hint rules before you start: Hard Mode makes every revealed hint count in later guesses, First Letter shows the first letter before you start, and Vowel Count tells you how many vowels the word has. The daily word, the color clues and your stats stay on your device. At the end, a labeled Local reflection uses your recorded counts.
