Mix four elements into 48 discoveries. Choose a commission or a bonus recipe, preview its points, then mix it yourself before the two-minute bell.

How to play

  1. Tap one shelf element to put it on the bench, then tap a second element. They mix at once; you can also mix an element with itself. Water with Fire makes Steam.
  2. A pair with a recipe makes a new element that joins your shelf. A pair without one simply fizzles and ends your streak. Remaking a known element scores nothing.
  3. Each new element scores 10 points for every step it is from the four basics. Consecutive new discoveries add a streak bonus of up to 20 points.
  4. Three commissions are shown each day, the same for everyone: one easy, one medium and one hard element. Each card shows the final recipe. Finishing a commission adds 60 points.
  5. Commission focus suggests a next recipe toward your selected unfinished commission. Bonus study suggests a recipe that earns extra points under the current study rule. They use recipes in your codex, public commission paths or a requested hint, with both materials already on your shelf. Classic has no study bonus; a route with no eligible pair is unavailable.
  6. Each route forecasts Base, Study, Streak and Commission points. Choosing a route only highlights its materials: it spends nothing and does not mix them. Tap the two shelf elements yourself; the second pick mixes immediately, with no separate Mix button.
  7. You have three hints per study. A hint highlights a pair you can already make that creates something new, preferring the path to your next commission.
  8. Play the full 120-second study. At the bell, 150 points earn one star, 400 earn two and 700 earn three. Your codex remembers every element you have ever made on this device. Keep experimenting continues with no clock.

Controls

Mouse or touch
Choose Commission focus or Bonus study to highlight a recipe, then tap its two shelf elements to mix. Clear bench removes a first pick, and Use a hint highlights a useful pair.
Keyboard
Tab to a shelf element and press Enter to pick it. H uses a hint, Escape clears the bench and P pauses and resumes.

Score and progress

Base points are 10 times the depth of a new element. Study adds another copy of those base points when the element belongs to the active bonus family. Streak adds 5 times your current consecutive discoveries, up to 20. Commission adds 60 only when the mix completes an unfinished daily target. Repeats and fizzles score zero and end the streak. These are in-game points, not real money.

Cloud or Plant: commission progress versus study bonus

Worked example · calculated from the game rules, not a player recording or AI response

Use the same UTC date, 2026-10-02, for these separate studies: the commissions are Star, Phoenix and Golem. First make Steam with Water + Fire, then Rain with Water + Air. Both are new discoveries in this study, so the current streak is 2 and the next new discovery earns 10 Streak points.

Assume your device codex already remembers Plant from an earlier study, but you have not made Cloud or Plant in this study. Steam and Rain are now on the shelf with the four basics. The codex remembers a recipe; it does not put its result on the current shelf. Without that learned Plant recipe, this setup has no eligible Green Season bonus route.

Commission focus offers Steam + Air → Cloud, a step toward Star. In Tide Study, Cloud also earns the water-family bonus, so both route buttons support the same pair. In Green Season, Bonus study instead offers Rain + Earth → Plant for extra living-family points. Plant is not a step toward this selected Star commission.

Read all four forecast components. Classic lab gives either recipe Base 20 + Study 0 + Streak 10 + Commission 0 = 30. Tide Study gives Cloud 20 + 20 + 10 + 0 = 50 and Plant 30. Green Season gives Cloud 30 and Plant 20 + 20 + 10 + 0 = 50. Neither recipe completes Star, Phoenix or Golem, so neither earns the 60-point commission reward here.

  1. After the two setup mixes, compare the routes before picking any more materials. Choose Commission focus to work toward Star, or an available Bonus study to prioritize the shown study points.
  2. Clear any existing first pick from the bench. For Cloud, tap Steam then Air; for Plant, tap Rain then Earth. The second pick performs the mix immediately. Choosing a route earlier only highlighted the pair.
  3. Check the new discovery and its awarded components, then read the refreshed forecasts. The table compares alternative next mixes from the same starting shelf and streak, not two successive moves: making either recipe changes the next forecast.

A typical mistake

Remaking Steam with Water + Fire before making Cloud scores zero and resets the streak. In Tide Study, Cloud then earns Base 20 + Study 20 + Streak 0 + Commission 0 = 40, rather than the earlier 50-point forecast. A pair with no recipe also resets the streak.

What to try next

Check that the displayed result is new in this study, that both ingredients are on the shelf, and whether the recipe advances your commission or earns a study bonus. Recheck the four components after every mix. A route is a local next-step forecast, not an optimal solution or a newly generated recipe.

What the AI challenge changes

A challenge locks one of three reviewed element families before the study starts. When AI responds, it writes the opening story and selects the condition. A local challenge uses the same list when AI is unavailable. Recipes, commissions and scoring still follow the local game rules.

Tide Study
Water elements such as Steam, Sea, Cloud and Rainbow score double depth points.
Forge Week
Fire elements such as Lava, Metal, Sun and Gold score double depth points.
Green Season
Living elements such as Plant, Life, Bird and Elixir score double depth points.

The displayed rule locks when you start. Classic mode needs no AI response, and a late response cannot change a run already in progress. If AI is unavailable, a clearly labeled local challenge keeps the game playable.

At the bell, the result shows stars, score, new elements, commissions finished, best streak and any actual challenge bonus points. An optional reflection uses those recorded totals. If the reflection service is unavailable, the result uses a labeled local reflection.

Questions before you play

How does AI change Elixir Lab?

AI can select a reviewed study that doubles base points for water, fire or living elements, with a matching opening story. Choose a commission to work toward or explore a bonus recipe. The study planner uses your shelf and known recipes to show the next mix and its base, challenge, streak and commission points before you act. Recipes and scoring stay consistent; the selected rule changes which discoveries earn extra points. At the bell, compare your actual bonus, score and stars, with an AI or clearly labeled local reflection. Local challenges and Classic remain free options when AI is unavailable.

Do I need an account or download?
