How to play Klondike Solitaire

Klondike is the classic solitaire card game. The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations at the top right, one pile per suit, building each one up from ace to king. Seven piles are dealt below, with the top card of each face up, and the rest of the deck waits face down in the stock.

Which moves are allowed?

In the seven piles, build down in alternating colors: a red 7 goes on a black 8, a black 9 on a red 10. You can move a face-up card together with every card on top of it. When a face-down card is uncovered it turns over by itself. Only a king, with any cards on it, can go to an empty pile. Tap the stock to turn over new cards; when it runs out, tap it again to turn the waste back over, as often as you like.

Draw 1 or Draw 3?

Draw 1 turns one card at a time, so every card in the stock can be reached and most deals can be won. Draw 3 turns three at a time and only the top one can be played, which makes the game harder. Your choice is kept for the next deal.

Undo, hints and the daily deal

Undo takes moves back one at a time, Hint shows one useful move, and a double tap or double click sends a card to its foundation. When every card is face up, the game finishes itself. The daily deal is the same for everyone each day.

KLONDIKE RULES

Move every card home, ace to king.

  1. Foundations. The four piles at the top right build up by suit, from ace to king. Fill all four to win.
  2. Piles. The seven piles below build down in alternating colors, like a red 7 on a black 8. Move a face-up card with everything on top of it. A face-down card turns over when it is uncovered. Only a king can start an empty pile.
  3. Stock. Tap the stock to turn over one card (Draw 1) or three (Draw 3); only the top card of the waste can be played. When the stock is empty, tap it to turn the waste back over. There is no limit on passes.

Drag a card or a run of cards to move it, or tap it and then tap where it goes. Double-tap or double-click a card to send it to its foundation. Hint shows one useful move, Undo takes moves back one at a time, and Restart deal plays the same cards from the start. When every card is face up, the game plays the rest home for you.

The clock starts with your first move. Games played, games won and your best times stay on this device.
